EASTER'S CHILD

We walked the frost of morning she and I.
She took a lily bulb
In two small hands
And held it up to me.

I cradled its cold, knowing
It brings light to darkened ground,
Blooms brilliance inside grace
Hiding like
A riddle, a rhyme, a seed,
A dawning
Within its center.

Within our ordinary lives.
